IT Specialist (Pathways Intern)-IEP
Summary This is a Student Internship position under the Pathways Internship Program. To qualify for this internship, you MUST be a continuing student enrolled or accepted for enrollment for the current/upcoming semesters for the duration of the internship as a condition of employment, taking at least a half-time course load. You will be required to provide documentation to support eligibility. PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS NOT A SUMMER INTERNSHIP AND IS LOCATED IN THE DC METROPOLITAN AREA ONLY. Responsibilities The candidate selected for this position will: 1. Gather data and information from sources such as collecting information on the procedures and steps involved in repetitive information technology tasks such as: collecting and collating straightforward information for inclusion in the response to an external oversight organization; reviewing documents that respond to internal administrative requirements for appropriate format, completeness, and timeliness; and assisting in the routine aspects of report preparation. 2. Perform tasks that encompasses introductory and basic levels of IT-supported assignments, covering areas such as IT management, data governance and security, IT contract information support, and foundational soft project skills in an IT environment. 3. Perform career developmental assignments designed to teach basic program operations within the OIT. Assist higher level staff in performing designs, testing, and modifying applications for prototype software systems, managing file storage resources, providing timely backup of critical data, and scheduling for data transmissions. Resolve data control problems during processing. Review products for quality purposes or for indications of processing problems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications BASIC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: In order to be considered qualified for this position you must meet one of the following qualification requirements (education and/or experience): If you are graduating at the end of the semester, you are not eligible for the position. EDUCATION: In order to qualify for this position based on your education you must have completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the private sector learning and assisting with information technology (IT) infrastructure processes, policies, tools and projects. Examples include: interaction with processes such as change enablement, configuration management and/or incident/problem management; interaction with policies such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance, applicable PBGC directives or other overall Federal policies such as Binding Operational Directives; interaction with tools such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Active Directory, ServiceNow and/or tools in the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline; and interaction with projects related to software/hardware installation, operation and maintenance. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S): In order to be considered and remain eligible for this position you must meet all of the following Pathways Program requirements as indicated by your transcript and/or proof of enrollment. If you are graduating at the end of the semester, you are not eligible for this position. GPA requirement: Undergraduate students must have a semester and cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Graduate students must have a semester and cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. (Note: if your school uses an alternate grading system, you must submit proof of the grading system with your application or your application will not be considered). Academic Standing Requirement: You must be (and remain) in good academic standing i.e., (you must not be on academic probation). Enrollment Requirement: You must be and remain enrolled at least half-time. Work Schedule Requirement: Must be able to work at least 20 hours per week and full-time during the summer and holidays. Additional Information About the Pathways Program: If this is your first semester, you must submit your acceptance letter and/or proof of class enrollment from an accredited institution.
