This position is located in Data Center Operations. This job title has an assigned pay grade of TS-317. Req.203922 This vacancy will be filled by new hire or by promotion of a current permanent status classified employee. Louisiana is a "State as a Model Employer" for People with Disabilities. This position will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Datacenter Operations Statewide Email and Messaging and Directory Services teams. These managerial duties and focus are concentrated on technical staff that support the Statewide Email system and associated messaging applications. This includes the support and maintenance of a large on prem Microsoft Exchange environment in use by agencies across the state. It also includes support for a Microsoft Office 365 tenant which includes many products such as Exchange Online, Teams, Office Online, and other cloud based applications. Further, these managerial duties will extend to a team of technicians that support, maintain and secure critical systems such as Active Directory, DNS and the domain controller infrastructure that run these systems. This position is required to provide effective management, leadership and support over critical lines of service for OTS and to foster security and efficiency standards expected by state agencies. Ensures that the unit provides specialized technology-oriented solutions by combining the processes and functions of software, hardware, networks, telecommunications and electronics to meet client needs. Ensures technology services are in compliance with state and federal policies and guidelines. Coordinates the provision of services with customer entities. Manages a highly complex technology platform that includes a group of technologies that are used as a base upon which other applications, processes or technologies are developed or serve to enable. Provides input into strategic planning relative to the work unit. Manages the work unit by formally assessing subordinate performance and providing training and guidance as necessary. Ensures efficiency in operational performance by monitoring work assignments, mitigating areas of concern, and providing recommendations to higher-level OTS personnel to improve unit performance. Manages operational activities for the organizational unit; coordinates with team leads in order to relay project statuses to upper management. Ensures subordinate staff comply with OTS policies and procedures. Provides recommendations to upper management for changes in policy and/or procedures to improve operational performance. Oversees highly complex information technology systems having statewide implications; plans and coordinates conversion and implementation projects for the assigned area. Establishes and implements technology plans for a defined organizational unit for the Office of Technology Services. Ensures subordinate personnel execute technology plans in accordance with performance expectations. Provides input regarding the impact of new legislation, rules, regulations and policies as it relates to highly complex information technology systems having statewide implications.
