IT Support Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and motivated IT Support Engineer to support a broad range of IT technologies for our client in Oakland, California.  Your responsibilities will include IT support of: scanners, printers, laptops, software licensing, laboratory computers, IP telephony, mobile devices, and basic networking. This is a great opportunity for a smart, self-motivated person who loves IT and wants to gain experience with a wide variety of technologies.

Your role and responsibilities:

First line support for information technology issues and problems. Evaluate IT communications and tickets to properly render a diagnosis and troubleshoot. Quickly and accurately determine incident scope and impact. Provide on-site and remote technical support as required. Onboarding/off boarding of new staff and associated user accounts. Maintain user accounts including passwords, rights, permissions and systems groups. Support company-managed assets, laptops, tablets, smart phones and applications. Troubleshoot hardware and software in Windows/Mac environment to include system imaging, configuration and tracking Troubleshooting and configuration experience with end user applications such as MS Office, GSuite and Apple Apps. Cloud based application support and monitoring (e.g. Box, Blackbaze etc.) Active Directory management: user creation, group membership, group policy etc. Manage and support VoIP telephony. Configuration, deployment and support of printing infrastructure, Audio Visual devices, scanners and other common use equipment. Ensure uptime of production MRP computers, scanners and printers. Execute tasks related to Windows 2008/2012 administration & basic networking. Create and maintain detailed system and application documentation. Manage and maintain front desk sign-in/badging system. Create and update IT work instructions. Handle project assignments and increasing responsibility as required by management.


Skills Required:

Working knowledge of hardware (Apple, Surface, Dell, others), operating systems (OS X, Win10) and other applications where IT provides support (Gmail/G Suite, Slack, Centrify, Salesforce etc). Ability to coach users on basic application and personal productivity software functions in an informal setting. Experience with Jamf Pro and MDT Tools. Experience working with Malware solutions like Cisco AMP and working experience with any Antivirus solutions. Must be able to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to troubleshoot user issues and provide training when applicable. Must be a self-starter who can work independently and within a team environment. Willingness to take on projects and gain experience in areas outside of your current role. Must be able to prioritize and multitask projects and tasks.  Prior project experience in the deployment of hardware and software in an enterprise setting. Ability to troubleshoot software/hardware problems, identify causes of issues in the Windows / Mac environment and take remediation steps to prevent reoccurrence.  Skills Preferred:
The ideal candidate is a team player with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Prior experience in a biotech or pharma is a plus. Prior experience supporting a manufacturing plant is a plus.

Experience Required:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent. 5+ years of IT experience and track record supporting end users in an enterprise setting.
