**About the Role**
We are looking for an IT Support Engineer experienced in supporting back-end infrastructure for complex IT systems, to work as a member of a small team Based out of Barrow on Furnace covering both Barrow and other sites in Cumbria.
Working into a Nation wide support organisation maintaining key critical national infrastructure.
Specific responsibilities include:
+ Providing 1st and 2nd Line support for all local IT Issues
+ Support of Windows desktop infrastructure
+ Supporting the Physical and VM Infrastructures estate both local and remote
+ Support MS Exchange-based email systems
+ Support unified communications solutions based on Skype/Teams and Video conference systems
+ Support Database and file storage technologies
+ Troubleshoot operational environment issues
+ Support a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) system and its integration with a smartcard systems
+ Supporting fixed Local and Wide Area Networks for Defence IT systems:
+ Troubleshoot WAN and LAN issues •
+ Monitoring LAN and WAN performance •
+ Conducting switching and routing equipment upgrades
Security:
+ Undertake infrastructure security monitoring
+ Conduct Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) checks
+ Schedule and Conduct patch updates and security patches aligned with security directives.
+ Management of antivirus products and regular definitions update deployments
**Here’s What You’ll Need**
+ At least 4 years’ experience working on complex IT systems in a key support role
Desirable:
+ Qualification relating to specialist vendor skills
+ Has operated in both windows and Linux environments
+ Experience working within the UK MOD
Other:
+ Currently hold SC clearance or above or be prepared to go through the clearance process
