Bowhead is seeking an IT Support Specialist to join our team in supporting IT deployment and infrastructure with US Customs and Border Protection at their Seattle, WA location. This position requires an individual with broad experience and who is capable of working as part of a government / contractor team. The selected candidate will install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and securely dispose of end user desktop and laptop computers, servers, peripherals, and office networking equipment. The IT Support Specialist shall additionally consult with users and the IT staff.

Responsibilities

• Installation and configuration of all system servers including hardware and software. Servers supported include but are not limited to: file, print, web technology, SharePoint application, and other servers as required.

• Installation and configuration of desktop workstations, laptops, tablets, and wireless access points, including re-imaging them and sanitizing old devices.

• Installation and configuration of data backup systems and devices.

• Installation and configuration of data backup media, including onsite and offsite storage.

• Reviewing of server system performance as requested by local Field Technology Officer (FTO) and recommend changes in writing

• Providing a record of changes of all configuration changes for each system and records of all updates.

• Providing guidance on disk space utilization on all servers including monitoring and enforcement of pre-determined user quota limits.

• Installation and configuration of antivirus software for workstations and servers.

• Installation and configuration of server patch management including installation.

• Installing, testing and managing of software add-ins and hardware devices within the Server environment.

• Travel to, or remotely access, CBP sites to troubleshoot and repair servers.

• Providing Tier I and II local area network (LAN) support.

• Providing reports, via government recommended media, on request showing site status.

• Manage Active Directory policies, scripts and permissions.

• Interface with the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC) for support of domain name system (DNS) windows internet naming service (WINS) and Proxy.

• Report all suspicious activity to the CBP Computer System Incident Response Center (CSIRC).

• Participate in new hardware and software compatibility and usability testing.

• Interface with Electronic Mail Operations (EMOPS) regarding the Exchange Mail Systems.

• Provide directory services troubleshooting including replication configuration.

• Create and delete accounts and distribution lists within Active Directory.

• Rename and configure LAN Printers as directed by government lead personnel.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma, BA/BS preferred

• Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of documented experience performing the responsibilities identified in the above description in a government or government-support role. This experience must be identified in the candidate's resume.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Comfortable working in a combined government/contractor team environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be able to successfully pass a CBP suitability background investigation. Candidates with a current and favorably adjudicated SSBI, T4, T4R, T5, or T5R, background investigation (such as is required for a TS, TS/SCI, or other critical/sensitive positions within the US Government) are highly preferred.

 

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
