IT Systems Administrator II
**Overview** Design, build, operate, and optimize Information Technology infrastructure/platforms including Microsoft Windows Server, shared storage, cloud services, virtualization and Windows-based applications to achieve high reliability, availability and performance of the various systems and technologies supported. This includes but is not limited to designing, deploying, configuring, administering, maintaining, documenting, troubleshooting, and tuning Windows/VMware operating systems and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner. Support of related components like Microsoft Azure and M365, Active Directory, DNS, and similar services are required. **Responsibilities** **Infrastructure Operations (50%)** + Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues within virtualization, shared storage, Windows Server OS, and applications. + Manage core technologies such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, VMware, Azure, and Microsoft 365. + Track and implement approved changes to configurations, access, and resource allocation. + Implement system security policies, procedures, and technologies. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system availability, reliability, and scalability. + Deploy system updates, patches, and hotfixes following best practices. + Monitor system performance and provide necessary reports. + Recommend and execute improvements for efficiency, reliability, and performance. + Utilize internal tracking systems (ticketing, project management). + Participate in after-hours on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis. **Design/Architecture (30%)** + Participate in platform, system, and application deployment design and implementation. + Lead process improvements across Microsoft, VMware, and Storage environments. + Conduct hardware/software research to support procurement and development. **Documentation & Compliance (10%)** + Develop and maintain system documentation and training materials. + Ensure compliance with internal policies, licensing agreements, and standards. + Participate in internal and external audits. **Other Work (10%)** + Contribute to training, vendor management, and budget planning. **Qualifications** **KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS** + Advanced technical expertise in Microsoft Windows Server, VMware, and decentralized storage technologies. + Expert knowledge of Microsoft Server technologies (Active Directory, IIS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, etc.). + Experience supporting SQL Server, Exchange, Microsoft 365, and Azure. + Proficiency in PowerShell, Batch scripting, and automation. + Strong networking knowledge (DNS, TCP/IP, routing, switching). + Solid understanding of security principles (encryption, PKI, server hardening). + Excellent communication and presentation skills. + Strong teamwork and research abilities. + Ability to analyze complex issues and propose creative solutions. **Preferred Skills/Experience** + Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM processes, particularly change management. + Experience with ServiceNow, SolarWinds Orion, and hybrid Microsoft 365 configurations. + Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO27001, PCI, CIS Controls, and audit remediation. **EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred). + 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure/platforms, including relevant certifications.
