IT Systems Engineer

Position Summary:  

The Systems Engineer designs, implements, and optimizes complex IT infrastructure solutions. They focus on planning and deploying new technologies, improving system performance, and ensuring scalability and security. Engineers lead infrastructure projects, troubleshoot advanced system issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new solutions into the existing environment. Their role is more project-based, centered on developing and improving the overall system architecture.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.

Experience:

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, focusing on the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex systems and applications.

• 7+ years of extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware or Hyper-V).

• Proficient in cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with a proven track record of implementing and managing cloud-based solutions.

• Demonstrated experience with system integration projects, effectively interfacing between various systems and platforms to enhance operational efficiency.

• Knowledgeable in networking concepts, including firewalls, switches, routing, protocols, and access controls.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Strong understanding of industry best practices in system administration, backup management, disaster recovery planning, and security protocols.

• Proficient in implementing security measures, including intrusion detection systems, and robust access control mechanisms to protect sensitive data and organizational assets.

• Familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST, ISO 27001, and HIPAA, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.

• Proficient in utilizing system monitoring and management tools to enhance operational efficiency and ensure system reliability.

• Exceptional documentation skills, capable of creating detailed system configurations, integration processes, and standard operating procedures.
