This person serves in an entry level technical position providing first line IT support for TMC operations. The System Technician will work closely with the TMC Director and the NYSDOT Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Coordinator to facilitate the installation, operation, repair, relocation and maintenance of the TMC’s field and central hardware and software.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports directly to NYSDOT TMC Director and Consultant Operations Manager. Tasks may be assigned by the NYSDOT TMC Manager or the NYSDOT ITS Coordinator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree or higher from an accredited college in Information Technology (IT), Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar computer‐related discipline; ORMinimum of three (3) years of full‐time employment meeting the Qualifying Experience, ANDMust possess a valid driver’s licenseUnderstanding of basic system administration & troubleshooting on Microsoft Windows systemsStatic and DHCP Network (IPv4) configurationProgramming and Software installationBasic connectivity diagnostics and troubleshootingFamiliarity with Microsoft Office applicationsUnderstanding how to author documents in Microsoft OfficeElectronic Mail and Scheduling using OutlookImmediate messaging and meeting capability in MS TeamUse of spreadsheets in ExcelFacilitate the installation, operation, repair, relocation, and maintenance of the TMC’s field and central hardware and software.The Consultant shall provide 24/7/365 coverage for this role which includes back-up coverage and on callCoverage during off-hours.Basic user IT troubleshooting and supportMonitoring Operating System and Equipment updatesPerforming various subsystem backupsAssist in field equipment configuration for deploymentEquipment and software maintenance and restartsOther Duties as assigned
