Position: IT Team Lead

Reports To: Director, Information Security, Compliance, and Corporate Systems

Location: Chicago

Job Overview

We are seeking an IT Team Lead to play a key role in ensuring the success of our IT operations by leading a team of IT professionals, optimizing system performance, and driving process improvements. This role requires a mix of hands-on technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills. The IT Team Lead will focus on mentorship, automation, security, and system reliability, ensuring seamless IT services for all employees.

From your seat in our beautiful office in downtown Chicago, you will have access to many teammates to help respond to issues and requests.  Our office is in the heart of the Loop with very convenient access to all major public transportation lines. Please note that we are onsite with a traditional five-day workweek schedule. This is a fully in-person role

Responsibilities & Duties

Technical Leadership & Support:Act as a senior technical expert within the IT team, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and hands-on support for complex IT issues.Oversee network infrastructure, cloud services, and IT security to support business operations.Maintain and optimize Windows and macOS environments, ensuring system reliability.Administer and manage a range of SaaS productivity and collaboration platforms including Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams), Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Meet), and identity management solutions such as Okta.Configure and maintain corporate networks, including Unifi, Netgear, Cisco, and WAPs.Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize configurations.Configure and manage mobile device management (MDM) systems such as Intune and Hexnode for all end users.
 Team Coordination & Mentorship:Lead a distributed team of IT professionals, ensuring efficient task delegation and workload management.Provide mentorship and technical training to junior and mid-level IT staff.Foster a culture of continuous learning and process improvement within the IT team.Work with IT leadership to align team objectives with overall business goals.
 Project Execution & Process Improvement:Lead IT infrastructure and automation projects, ensuring successful implementation.Identify and implement automation for access reviews, provisioning, and IT workflows.Collaborate with Security Operations and Compliance teams to analyze and mitigate security risks.Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical documentation, and IT policies.
 Helpdesk & IT Operations:Oversee the IT Helpdesk and ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues.Manage access control and identity management, including SSO and SCIM provisioning.Partner with system owners to ensure secure integrations and system hardening.Coordinate IT procurement and asset management, ensuring proper inventory tracking.
 

Characteristics

Strong expertise in network administration, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), IT security, and enterprise IT environments.Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows/Linux systems, virtualization, and enterprise software solutions.Experience leading local and distributed / remote teams or projects, providing technical mentorship and direction.Ability to work with remote teams and independently manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Education & Experience

BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of hands-on experience in IT support, system administration, or IT infrastructure roles.Experience managing macOS and Windows in a mixed environmentKnowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automating deployments, updates, and troubleshooting.Office 365 administration – user management, security policies, email filtering, and Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams administration.Ability to administer, configure, and manage corporate networks (Unifi, Netgear, and WAPs)Experience with system performance monitoring tools and techniques.
