IT - Technology Lead, Database Administration, DB2 on Open Systems - UDB

Core Purpose:   Manage Database technologies including SQL, DB2, MySQL, Vertica, Hadoop and Oracle on Windows, Solaris, Z/OS, Unix, Red Hat Linux, and AIX systems
Area of Responsibility:
•       Database Configuration – Physical : including
o       Configure Database objects including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures
o       Configure Database encryption and security parameters
o       perform data conversions as required
o       work with application developers, system and storage administrators to optimize Database Configurations
o       Configure clustered Databases where required using technologies such as SQL Server Clusters, etc
o       work with storage and system administrators to evaluate and implement technologies such as DataGuard
o       perform database performance tuning
•       Database Support – Physical : including
o       implement Database archive processes and procedures
o       perform Database re-indexing, stored procedure rebuilds, Database defragmentation, and purging obsolete Database definitions and procedures
o       provide activities including index rebuilds or reorgs, verification of integrity, Database shrinking, and statistics updating
o       monitor Database logging systems including Database lock errors and trouble shoot causes
o       plan for table space utilization and develop migration plans to ensure data integrity prior to anticipated changes, expansions, or migrations to new or changed space allocation
o       document unsupported Database versions, where they are used, the Applications that use them and actively seek to either upgrade, retire or migrate them to alternate platforms
o       Apply latest security patches and perform upgrades
•       Database Design and Development
o       Evaluate Database designs for all Databases and provide recommendations for improvement
o       participate in New Project/application development design sessions and provide Database design recommendations
Basic Education Qualification: 
•       Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 

Basic Years of Experience:
•       7 Years

Knowledge and Skills:
•       7 years of experience on DB2 Administration in LUW environment (Linux, Unix, Windows)

•       Other databases experience (SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Vertica, Hadoop) would be an added advantage
•       Experience in DB2 Database Administration, Database Refresh, Data Modelling, Data Partitions, Performance Tuning, Production Deployment Support
•       Analyzing and Resolving DB2 related issues. Working with developers and ETL team to improve their LOAD performance 
•       Good Communication and Analytical skills
•       Candidate in this role is required to work in Shifts and required to provide 24x7 on-call support.
