The OpportunityBlack & Veatch is seeking a qualified Vendor Relationship Manager to lead the Digital & IT Vendor Relationship Management function. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Ensure that Black & Veatch maximizes the value of vendor relationships, mitigates risks, and maintains high levels of vendor performance Be responsible for managing vendor contracts, tracking performance, collaborating with internal business leaders to ensure vendors are meeting contractual obligations, and ensuring cost overruns and service level agreement (SLA) breaches are avoided
The successful candidate will have a strong background in vendor management, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders (Sourcing, Legal, Finance) and external vendors.
The TeamBlack & Veatch’s Business Enablement consists of critical groups that help enable the organizations people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible. Functions in this group include Digital & Information Technology, Global Finance, Global Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.
Key ResponsibilitiesContract Value Realization:
Ensure vendor contracts deliver the expected value by actively monitoring performance and contractual obligations. Collaborate with business leaders to ensure vendors are performing according to contracts and that the business operates within contract terms to avoid cost overruns and SLA violations. Establish internal and vendor-facing policies, standards, processes, and templates for vendor interactions.Performance & Relationship Management:
Conduct business reviews to evaluate vendor performance against agreed SLAs and KPIs. Develop and execute a corrective action plan to resolve performance issues. Develop and maintain vendor scorecards and performance metrics across technical, process, and business outcomes such as innovation and competitive advantage. Collect feedback from internal stakeholders to assess vendor satisfaction and develop and execute a corrective action plan to address any issues or opportunities.Vendor Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the primary liaison between vendors and internal business leaders, ensuring alignment of vendor performance with business strategy and key objectives. Provide timely reports and vendor performance data to relevant stakeholders, fostering analytics-driven decision-making.Risk and Issue Management:
Identify and mitigate risks associated with vendor relationships, including financial risks, third-party involvement, and performance risks. Analyze problem areas, lead the resolution of disputes, and manage escalations with vendors.Collaboration with Business Leaders:
Proactively collaborates with business leaders to ensure vendors meet contractual obligations and that cost overruns are avoided. Engage with business leadership to ensure BV contract accountabilities are understood and that business owners are managing contracts effectively, driving value from each vendor relationship. Ensure clear communication and alignment of expectations and obligations across business units to prevent contractual issues.Vendor Analysis & Reporting:
Conduct vendor analysis and inform IT Sourcing Managers and business operations of potential improvements, innovations, and sourcing methods. Maintain and enhance vendor management tools, including tracking, analytics, and performance dashboards. Assess and report on the risk level of vendors based on financial viability, skills, tools, and their use of third parties.Financial & Cost Management:
Understand IT vendor spending by category, cost center, and vendor, ensuring cost control measures are in place. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor vendor expenses and budgets and identify areas of cost-saving opportunities. Ensure vendor contracts are managed in a way that maximizes value while minimizing financial risks. Work closely with Sourcing, Legal, and Finance to ensure contracts are adhered to and cost management is maintained. Manage vendor credits and reimbursements for SLA nonperformance. Manage appropriate personnel that are part of the vendor management team. Provide appropriate support/training to internal staff that manage individual vendor accounts.Management Responsibilities Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.Preferred Qualifications In-depth knowledge of vendor management principles, practices, and tools, including vendor selection, contract management, vendor scorecards, performance tracking, and risk management. An understanding of the IT industry, including emerging technologies and trends, industry regulations, and compliance requirements. Advanced negotiation skills to effectively negotiate contracts and resolve vendor issues. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Strong analytical skills to analyze vendor performance data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of financial principles and budget management to effectively manage vendor expenses and budgets. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Ability to think strategically and develop long-term vendor management strategies that align with Black & Veatch strategy and objectives Ability to lead and manage a team, delegate tasks, and provide guidance and coaching as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 4 years' experience performing duties comparable to those of a Contract Administrator 6 Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
