Responsible for assisting the Pharmacists by preparing sterile IV products in the IV rooms. Also, responsible for stocking and maintaining inventory in the IV areas. Under the direct supervision of the Infusion Pharmacist on duty. Responsible for the assigned shift (Monday thru Friday, 8a - 5p. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Assists in pulling charts and calling respiratory patients to determine needed refills and shipping dates for their respiratory medications.Prepares needed IV products using sterile technique, including calculating needed volumes for both single and multi-additive solutions.Determines priority of needed IV preparations for the day and compounds or assists in compounding using sterile technique.Retrieves needed respiratory medications and readies them for the pharmacists to dispense.Aligns all prepared products with labels and calculations for Pharmacists to check.Under the supervision of pharmacists, prepares IV Parenteral Nutrition using TPN compounder.Reviews inventory levels of IV rooms and of supply area and processes replacement items as necessary.Responsible for contacting respiratory and enteral patients each month for the dispensing and arranging of the deliveries of medication and supplies.Responsible for maintaining an IV cleanroom under USP 797 cleanroom specifications.Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.Responsible for ordering and purchasing cleanroom supplies and compounding products.Assists with the filing of patient charts, prescriptions, and other department related materials.Uses a computer to run IV labels and prescription labels as necessary.Readies IVs and supplies for delivery and/or mail out.Acts as initial contact with other departments either by phone or personal interaction solving problems or directing to appropriate personnel in a congenial manner.JOB SPECIFICATIONS:EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be a certified Pharmacy tech.LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
A pharmacy Technician Certification graduate is required.Tennessee Pharmacy Technician licensure requiredEXPERIENCE:
Ability to perform routine technician duties as acquired through 6 months of on-the-job training, a graduate of recognized School of Technology for Pharmacy Technicians, or outside work-related experience in sterile products.NONDISCRIMINATION NOTICE STATEMENT
