Job Description:
The Ivy College of Business Graduate Career Services Office at Iowa State University is seeking a Data Analyst II to join our team on the main campus in Ames, Iowa. This role will focus on enhancing the career readiness of our MBA and specialized graduate business students through data driven decision making initiatives.
The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with strong written and verbal communication skills, business analytics, and technology skills. They should be able to exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with varied groups.
The primary responsibilities will include:
+ Assisting the Director of Graduate Business Career Services with cultivating, developing, and managing relationships, communication flows, and record keeping with employers, students, faculty, and all other constituents.
+ Assisting the Director of Graduate Business Career Services with multiple graduate program rankings data criteria requirements.
+ Staying up to date, knowledgeable, and compliant with rankings reports and data criteria, hiring practices, recruitment laws, applicant tracking systems, and best practices in career services.
+ Surveying, collecting, and managing student career outcome reports within the online employer and student portal.
+ Maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing job and internship outcome data reports and spreadsheets for periods prior to college, at graduation, and one-year post-graduation.
+ Analyzing, reporting, and presenting internship and employment outcome data insights with relevant stakeholders.
+ Managing multiple online portals offering internships, rotational programs, and job search strategies to enhance student career options and improve institutional rankings through higher job titles and salaries.
+ Interpreting career-related data (e.g., job placement rates, employer engagement, student advising) to identify trends and forecast future possibilities to optimize student outcomes, strengthen employer relations, and support university accreditation.
+ Reporting career outcome data as engaging visual narratives for the Ivy College of Business website, boosting transparency and appeal to prospective students, current students, alumni, and employers.
+ Compiling, analyzing, and presenting annual career services metrics reports (digital and print) for the institutional annual report, highlighting key performance indicators such as employment rates, top hiring industries, and salary trends.
+ Drawing on Industry experience, serve as a career consultant for graduate business students in the Ivy College of Business, including MBA and specialty master’s degree students, administrators, faculty, staff, and alumni on issues and trends related to employment.
+ Consulting individual graduate students and alumni in their internship and/or job search strategies, negotiation strategies, resume and cover letters, interviewing best practices, and other related career topics.
+ Functioning independently as a subject matter expert in student case management, campus recruiting, and professional development.
+ Designing and delivering career courses that educate students on career development.
+ Developing and organizing career programs like fairs and workshops to connect students with employers and help them enhance networking skills and showcase their strengths.
+ Partnering with employers and academic departments to assess labor market trends, ensuring alignment between curriculum, employer requirements, and emerging industry demands.
+ Providing and assisting students with the CPT/OPT work authorization data process in collaboration with the International Students and Scholars office.
+ Partnering with marketing to share data-driven success stories, showcasing trends like in-demand skills, employment rates, top industries, and salary insights. Leveraging data storytelling to convey impact to university leadership and accrediting bodies
+ Conducting surveys and analyzing feedback from students, alumni, and employers to improve services.
+ Identifying and tracking potential employer partnerships based on engagement metrics to improve and strengthen recruitment.
+ Ensuring data integrity and security in career services databases.
+ Supervising 1-2 graduate student assistants responsible for supporting program initiatives.
