JA7 – Special Events Coordinator-Jazz Festival

Position: JA7 – Special Events Coordinator – Ottawa Jazz Festival 

Contract Length: 26 Weeks.                            Start Date: February 10, 2025                          End Date: Initial term approved to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year end, March 31, 2025.  Additional weeks, ending August 8, 2025 is pending the approval of Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year (2025-2026) JCP program application to the Province of Ontario.

Work Schedule:  Full Time-4 business days per week (32 hours)            Location:  Hybrid: 2 days at 294 Albert St + 2 days at home

JOB SUMMARY: Assist in the coordination, research, special events planning and implementation of the festival’s partner relationships and assist in social media coordination. This position reports to the Executive & Artistic Director, Director of Marketing & Partnerships, Sponsorship Coordinator, Operations Manager and Digital Media Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Track and document all partner agreements and ensure that all deliverables such as visibility, logos, complimentary tickets are fulfilled. Assist with online research for potential festival partners. Organize arrangements for VIP evenings during the festival and any other special event. Work with the Digital Media Manager to engage in social media communications. Must be a team player who will oversee and administer artist riders, including food preparation/clearing, presentation, etc. All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

Have training or previous experience in marketing, public relations and/or special events. College or University education is an asset. Must be a team player. Possess strong written and verbal skills. Able to meet deadlines and perform under pressure. Be computer literate and familiar with social media marketing techniques.

Additional Qualifications Required:

Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria: 

An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.   A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.  Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:  Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.  Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.  Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.  Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous 60 months. 

NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.     

Remuneration:

$688 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $21.50 based on 4 days/32 hours).
