Job Summary
A facility janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This includes tasks like cleaning patient rooms, restrooms, and common areas, as well as emptying trash and replenishing supplies.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors; dust furniture and surfaces; clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, and other areas; clean and polish fixtures. Empty trash and recycling bins; dispose of medical waste according to facility protocols. Replenish cleaning supplies, linens, and other necessary materials in patient rooms and restrooms. Clean all restrooms, toilets, shower, sinks, floors and walls. Ensure a clean and safe environment to prevent the spread of infections. Operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, mop buckets, and floor machines. May include minor building repairs, washing windows, or assisting with inventory of cleaning supplies. Cleans and disinfects all furniture, fixtures, and equipment according to procedure. Removes and properly handles soiled linen; disinfects and remakes beds in patient rooms; dust and wet mops hard floors with disinfectant. Performs bloodborne pathogen and chemical spill containment and clean-up according to procedure. Strips, cleans, buffs, and applies finish to floors. Uses high speed floor buffers, polishers, and automated floors scrubbers. Performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning of surgical, obstetrical, and invasive procedure rooms including flood mopping and disinfecting according to procedure. Vacuums and spot clean carpets; operate automated carpet shampooers and extractors. Transplant cleans patient and construction areas according to procedures. Cleans interior or easily accessible exterior windows.Requirements and Qualifications
Experience with various cleaning methods and equipment. Ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness and sanitation. Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Ability to communicate with staff and follow instructions. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members. 18 years or older Be able to read, write and speak English fluently Prefer experience working as a janitor in a medical facility Maintain tactful composure and confidentiality with patients, residents, family members, staff and visitors.Avamere is an Equal Opportunity Employer and participates in E-Verify.
