Purpose of Role
The Capital Markets Specialist will be primarily responsible for supporting our strategic business development work by enhancing our account management framework with Capital Markets Group Partners to strengthen current relationships and expand coverage within the Broker Dealer and Exchange communities. In addition, the Capital Markets Specialist will be responsible for researching and developing project-driven initiatives, creating thought leadership, and fielding business inquiries from clients and internal stakeholders. This position is a client facing role, working closely with Intermediary and Institutional Sales to cover all client segments; including asset owners, asset managers, wealth managers and private banks, platforms and others.
Major Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
· Will lead our Japan ETF Capital Markets efforts, focused on developing and executing the ETF Capital Markets function in Japan to support locally and international listed ETFs used by Japanese clients.
· Strategically will build out the ETF trading eco-system in Japan, working with Partners, Regulators, Industry groups and Exchanges to progress ETF trading efficiencies.
· Lead for ETF Capital Markets across significant projects and working groups related to APAC (focus on Japan) market structure advocacy, regulatory engagement, and ETF ecosystem improvements.
· Perform ETF Primary and Secondary Market processes for Japan listed ETFs and those outside of Japan when required.
· Drive expansion of coverage to Japanese Broker Dealer accounts – assessing needs of SPDR business, identifying partnership opportunities, establishing strategic account plans
· Assist in ensuring support from the Broker Dealer and Exchange communities for SPDR priorities as it relates to market making, distribution, and product innovation and enhancements.
· Proactively provide education into Japanese based clients for ETF Trading, delivering subject matter expertise.
· Provide support for the ongoing maintenance of account plans for broker dealers and Exchange partners – assist in the execution of priorities to support SPDR business, expand touch points with top broker dealer partners.
· Ability to interact directly with clients alongside sales to pitch and present. Internal Partnerships:
· Deliver risk excellence and support the business as a whole through internal and external relationship development.
· Collaborate with teams across SSGA and other State Street business divisions to represent APAC Capital Markets Group, especially in Japan.
· Facilitate an understanding of the Global SPDR ETF business and its strategy and priorities across key internal partners.

Client Segment
Client, Broker Dealer and Exchange coverage:
· End-clients
o Assist clients with trading and liquidity related queries, including pre- and post-trade analysis, Due Diligence Questionnaires and pricing indications.
o Work with Execution Services Senior Lead to develop an end-to-end client coverage model strategy
o Produce trading and liquidity reports with a heavy emphasis on data analysis o Analyse market structure developments and changes to assist the wider SPDR business strategy.

Your Ideal experience:
· Exposure to the ETF industry (Sales and Trading, ETF servicing and project management), preferably from large financial institution; you have strong understating of the dynamics that drive capital markets
· Business analyst or project-based background, which includes running ETF-related projects
· Capital markets knowledge with a good understanding of buy-side workflows for at least one asset class
· Ability to navigate and opine on Market Structure
· Strong Japanese and US listed ETF markets experience and knowledge advantageous
· Proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Bloomberg.
· Demonstrated experience communicating across multiple stakeholder groups with strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese
· You should have the aptitude to think and act globally, harmonizing global, regional and local objectives. A developed sense of judgment and the ability to balance business needs in an objective and practical way is critical
Personal Profile: The ideal candidate will have relevant technical and education requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree of Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a similar field
· 6-9 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably with Japanese ETF industry background.
· Background experience in the ETF/project management/sales trading preferred but not required
· Knowledge of ETF mechanics – create/redeem process, fees, ETF clearing and settlement operations, custody
· Enthusiasm for the industry, a positive attitude, and a drive to succeed
· Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate industry and product knowledge; Strong critical thinking skills with ability to frame business issues and apply data analysis to support strategic decision-making
· Ability to build relationships within our team, across our organization, and with our clients
· You are confident and credible to achieve consensus with both internal and external parties, with well-rounded communication skills to enable articulation of complex matters in straight-forward manner
· You have strong ethics and integrity with a strong risk radar and dedicated approach to resolve issues
· You have professional curiosity to identify and drive improvements and opportunities with a willingness to get into the detail and frame the solution
· Strong analytical skills with advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Bloomberg
· Strong aptitude for multi-tasking
· Oral and written fluency in Japanese and English required
· Knowledge of additional Asian language is a plus.
· Passing JSDA Class-1 Sales Representative Examination is expected for this role.
