Java Lead Software Engineer

As a Python / Spark Big Data Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Capital Technology team, you will play a crucial role in an agile team, focusing on the enhancement, construction, and delivery of top-tier technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. Your core technical contributions will involve developing vital technology solutions across a range of technical areas, supporting various business functions to achieve the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities 

Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems  Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others  Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems  Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies  Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect  Provide guidance through leading, mentoring and coaching a team of software engineers Directly lead a team of software engineers and technically lead as we continue to modernise our Capital Reporting processes within JPMorgan Chase

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced  applied experience Advanced in Python & PySpark  Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability   Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle  Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security  Practical cloud native experience  Managing expectations of non-technical stakeholders. 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills: 

Familiar with AWS via hands on experience or certification   Familiarity with orchestration tools like Airflow  Familiarity with BASEL regulatory reporting framework  Familiarity with engineering in a regulatory controlled environment
