Celonis is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build new features, design and implement robust public APIs and continuously increase our software's reliability. Our Java services are built on Java 21 and Spring (Boot), and expertise in microservices is highly desirable. **The work you’ll do:** + Take full ownership of features delivery life-cycle from technical design and implementation to production rollout and maintenance. + Continuously improve the reliability and stability of our products. + Work with state-of-the-art technologies, developing breakthrough solutions always aiming to bring further value to our users and increase the Customer reach. + Propose, define, implement and release new software functionalities. + Constantly improve our development processes aiming for automation and efficiency. + Collaborate and work closely with the Product Management and UX teams to better understand end-user requirements. + Embrace a continuous learning and continuous improvement culture. + Mentor less experienced team members. + Help to retain and attract Talent within the organization **The qualifications you need:** + 6+ years of experience designing and building backend services with: + An object-oriented programming language; Java preferred. + The Spring Framework or similar. + Relational databases; PostgreSQL a plus. + Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data pipelines for large quantities of customer data. + AWS storage and data processing technologies such as S3, Databricks and Spark. + Experience with common backend architectural patterns such as API gateway, microservices, and event-driven systems. + Experience creating both internal and customer-facing REST APIs. + Experience writing clear, understandable and testable code with a continuous focus on maintainability, performance, security and stability. + Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations such as GDPR, FedRAMP, HIPAA. + A can-do attitude able to solve complex problems with limited supervision. + A joy for sharing knowledge, working, and collaborating with other teams across the organization. + Full professional proficiency in English. **Other helpful experience:** + Experience working with Git for source control. + Knowledge of GitHub and GitHub Actions for CICD. + Knowledge of common web security vulnerabilities, such as the OWASP Top Ten, and how to program defensively against them. + Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes for development and deployment. + Knowlege of both single- and multi-tenancy architecture. + Basic understanding of shell scripting, such as bash or zsh. **What Celonis Can Offer You:** + The unique opportunity to work with industry-leading process mining technology + Investment in your personal growth and skill development (clear career paths, internal mobility opportunities, L&D platform, mentorships, and more) + Great compensation and benefits packages (equity (restricted stock units), life insurance, time off, generous leave for new parents from day one, and more).
