The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing all fixturing and special purpose machine equipment required by any of the production areas, incorporating both the St Asaph site & Qioptiq Space Technology. This position offers the opportunity to further develop your engineering design skills within a stimulated environment while engaging with a dedicated and professional team of Design Engineers. **Key Responsibilities:** + Proficient use of computer based mechanical design software (e.g. Creo, PDMLink) + Design tools, fixtures, cutters special packaging and gauges of a complex nature using computer aided design software, in an efficient and timely manner, in order to meet required quality standards at minimal cost. + Liaise with toolmakers to solve/ease manufacturing problems and to achieve delivery dates to customers. + Forge and maintain working relationships with all stakeholders and collaborate with them in order to ensure the correct product is delivered at the right time. + Select appropriate suppliers, request quotes and place orders, ensuring value for money at all times. + Carry out tooling audits and Internal concessions and deal with any quality issues when they arise. + Maintain and update standard tool lists in order tofacilitate stock control. **Personal Specification:** It is essential that all candidates should demonstrate the following: + HNC in Mechanical/Production Engineeringor equivalent qualification. + Experienceworking with mechanical design software tools (e.g. Pro-Engineer Wildfire/Creo 3D Modelling, 2d detailing) + A good understanding of modern manufacturing processes, materials and design for manufacture principles. + An understanding of the Principles of Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning. + Experience of the design of high precision products and/or fixtures. + Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail. + Confidence in decision making and awareness of the impact of decisions. + Good team player with the added ability to work to tight deadlines. + A positive can-do attitude and the ability to realise and execute complex ideas. + Experience of using computer-based software such as Microsoft Office and AX.
