Job Coach/Case Manager for Supported Employment

Ranked 35 among national universities, Boston College has 888 full-time and 1,281 FTE faculty, 2,711 non-faculty employees, an operating budget of $1.4 billion, and an endowment in excess of $3.5 billion. **Job Description** The Job Coach/Case Manager is responsible for providing job training, coaching, and ongoing supportive supervision to a group of approximately 24 adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities employed across various departments at Boston College. This role also includes case management duties for 6-8 program participants, acting as a liaison and advocate with external agencies and internal departments to ensure clients' success in their employment and personal development. Key Responsibilities Job Coaching and; Training: Assist clients with developmental disabilities in successfully meeting job expectations and becoming integrated into the competitive workforce. Promote Independence: Support participants in enhancing their independence by using task checklists, time-management techniques, motivational strategies, and person-centered assistive technologies. Foster Positive Relationships: Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and their respective department staff to encourage positive supervisory dynamics. Workplace Support: Facilitate additional natural supports within the workplace by providing disability education and person-centered guidance to ensure optimal placement outcomes. Individual Support Plan (ISP): Regularly review client records and follow the guidelines outlined in each client’s Individual Support Plan. Skills Development: Model, guide, and provide alternative strategies to help clients improve their work quality, productivity, and interpersonal skills, while addressing any challenges related to sanitation or other work tasks. Advocacy: Advocate for necessary workplace accommodations and encourage self-advocacy in clients, empowering them to communicate ideas, concerns, and career goals with employers and external supports. Supervision and Mentorship: Oversee Boston College Pulse students, guiding them to connect course material with real-world community service experiences. Effective Communication: Use the most effective communication methods (assistive technology, sign language, visual aids, cueing, repetition, etc.) to ensure clear and successful interaction with clients. Policy Adherence: Assist clients in adhering to both departmental policies and program requirements (e.g., work conduct, absence protocols). Documentation & Reporting: Document client observations, progress, and staff interventions on a daily/weekly basis, compiling monthly data and submitting timely reports to relevant state agencies. Vocational Improvement Plans: Develop annual Individual Support Plans to outline measurable vocational goals, work and safety assessments, and progress updates. Liaison Role Serve as the primary liaison between clients and their respective departments, as well as external social support networks (residential staff, legal guardians, DDS Service Coordinators, etc.). Encourage Utilization of Resources: Promote and encourage clients to engage with available educational, social, and rehabilitative services, collaborating with external supports to enhance client outcomes. Payroll and Social Security: Obtain payroll information from the Human Resources Service Center for clients, ensuring proper coordination with housing and Social Security requirements. Career Satisfaction: Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with clients to assess career satisfaction, review vocational goals, and document progress. Client Rights: Advocate for and uphold clients' rights both in and outside of the workplace. Training and Support: Assist in the training of student employees and volunteers to support the program’s goals. Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Program Coordinator. Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $52,400 to $65,500; salary commensurate with relevant experience. **Requirements** Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, initiative-driven approach to tasks. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Understanding of the diverse challenges faced by adults with varying cognitive, physical, and psycho-social needs.
