Position SummaryThe Infection Prevention Technology (IPT) business develops sterilizers used in hospitals throughout the world. The Designer is responsible for design, detail drafting and documentation on minor or major projects and products as assigned by Senior Designers and/or Engineers. Develops design specifications for electromechanical products and assist in resolving design problems in support of new product development.
*This position is located onsite in Mentor, Ohio
Duties Prepares design layouts of complex electromechanical equipment from design specs and/or Sr. Designers and Engineers guidance on minor problems or portions of major programs in support of new product development. Layouts to be complete and accurate as to critical tolerance areas, component requirements and placement, material selection, function, etc. as per design specification, Engineers and/or Sr. Designers instruction, and/or Customer specification. Coordinates, assists, and directs efforts between Engineers and/or Sr. Designers and supporting Drafters on minor projects or portions of major projects from detail documentation through engineering release. Leads the drafting effort of supporting drafters in the preparation of the detail Aids in the development of drafting personnel with regards to good drafting practices and to STERIS’ policies and procedures requirements as related to documentation. Designs assemblies for best manufacturing process for components of design as to feasibility, cost, reliability, etc. Originates ideas and concepts of designs. Specifies code Adheres to requirements in designs to meet UL, ASME, OSHA, NFPA, etc., as applicable by the design spec. Provides accurate and complete drawings in regards to views, dimensioning, conformance to Company engineering specifications and drafting standards; assists in the final drafting checking function, and aids in securing all necessary approvals for all drawings produced under his/her supervision. Performs testing or assisting in testing of prototypes and pre-production products in accordance with test protocols. May assist in preparing and writing test summaries. Required Experience Associate's Degree in an appropriate discipline from a two or four-year college or university. (in lieu of a degree, a certificate from an accredited technical school may be considered.) Experience with design of sheet metal, piping, electromechanical, and mechanical assemblies. Ability to interpret and write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Experience working with Creo (preferred), SolidWorks, Autodesk, AutoCAD, Adobe, Excel Preferred Education and Experience2 years of design experience utilizing 3D and 2D CAD tools. Experience working with Creo.
Pay range for this opportunity is $43,250.00 - $60,637.50.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
