Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

The Role

 

The Maintenance Supervisor in our Applied Sterilization Technologies (AST) Grand Prairie, TX facility oversees all the activities of maintenance personnel engaged in all facets of the operations function. The Maintenance Supervisor assumes authority for maintenance personnel actions and oversees day to day operations of professionals and/or skilled technical employees. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to troubleshoot, plan, and coordinate equipment repairs and upkeeping. Contributes to performance management of maintenance personnel through constant feedback and addresses issues pertaining to training, wages, hiring and terminating.

 

Maintenance Supervisor role aligns with experience supporting facilities with multiple modalities or campus environments with multiple buildings.

What You Will Do Ensures equipment planned/unplanned repairs and preventative maintenance activities are performed accurately; verifying maintenance personnel workmanship and addressing deficiencies as needed. Ensures reports, records, and/or work orders are submitted and completed immediately following the respective activities. Ensures initiation and completion of Change Control Evaluations are completed prior to performing changes. Emergency repairs/changes are an exception. Monitors and maintains activities associated with spare parts, part ordering, equipment downtime, work orders, preventative maintenance schedule and calibration schedule. Maintains a safe, clean and secure working environment by enforcing adherence to all safety procedures, rules and regulations; monitoring all safety and security systems and procedures on a basis; advising management of unsafe work practices and/or conditions; supporting plant safety  Provides timely status updates to the Maintenance Manager on projects, repairs, and/or tasks completion. Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher-level management and performs other duties as assigned. Ensures compliance with Corporate QSRC and GMP procedures by monitoring established programs; monitoring training requirements and conducting in depth investigations on equipment difficulty related nonconformities. Communicates effectively and in a courteous and respectful manner; provides timely and accurate responses on the status of maintenance tasks. Ensures Customer service and satisfaction through professional and timely responses to internal and external Customer needs.

 

People Leadership

 

Assigns and oversees daily tasks of the maintenance personnel and ensures performance of tasks are completed in a timely and high-quality manner. Provides team with guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed as scheduled; gets involved with repairs and/or preventative maintenance tasks when lacking resources to ensure meeting deadlines. Provides and coordinates maintenance support during off shift emergencies; communicates off shift activities to the management team. Coordinates with contractors for work being performed at the facilities. Leads staff through coaching, counseling, motivating, and disciplining as needed. Promotes teamwork through intra- and inter-department cooperation. Maintains mechanical and technical skills, knowledge, and abilities by attending workshops, reviewing trade publications and participating in repairs to equipment, machinery, etc. Drives safe working behavior by demonstrating and promoting safe work performance, anticipating safety training needs, and counseling and training employees. Leads by example What You Will Need to Be Successful

 

High School Diploma or GED and at least 5 years of maintenance experience, including 1 year of leadership experience. Ability to effectively read, write, and verbally communicate in English. Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision. Effective interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated through prior experience. Requires normal hearing range sufficient to hear and decipher between various alarms, bells, horns, etc. Preferred Experience Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of relevant experience.   Ability to read, interpret and practical application of electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical blueprints. Working knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) or other types of process control equipment. Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office (such as Word, Excel and Outlook) or other relevant software applications.  Above average organizing, analyzing and a minimum of Level 3 math skills (ratio, proportions, basic algebra) to determine organizational Customer and regulatory problems to formulate corrective action plans.
