SCOPE:
This position primarily drives national recommendations, personal usage, and in-office sales by dental professionals and pharmacies of consumer and professional oral health products. The Professional Business Manager also is responsible for developing marketing messages, detailing and product promotional materials specifically targeted at the professional markets.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Planning
Execute commercial plan and P&L for the professional market segment that is consistent with the country’s broader marketing vision and aligned with the global strategy
Work cross functionally with finance, logistics and supply chain to plan, analyze, and forecast demand in the professional market and to ensure sufficient inventory and sample availability
Optimize resources and leverages spending for the professional market
Identify dentist preferred suppliers and establishes dental distributor partnerships, ensuring Colgate has optimal distribution coverage versus peer competitors
Work closely with Consumer marketing to align scientific brand messaging and to coordinate oral health programs for consumers and the professional market
Business Development
Execute defined business growth strategies that ensure Colgate maintains momentum ahead of competition in all channels of professional influence
Develop specific account growth plan with key dental accounts
Continually develop all accounts to higher levels of business performance
Create strong professional loyalty programs that protect Colgate accounts from competitor activities
Monitor activity in dental offices and pharmacies and communicates competitive, category and product information to customer marketing and sales management
Coordinate with Scientific affairs the development of demand generation tools, marketing materials, messages and programs for strengthening the scientific image of Colgate among dental professionals and for ensuring that the detailing/sales team speaks informatively about Colgate products
Create focused practitioner and patient sampling program to achieve usage and endorsement growth targets
Monitor P&L, spending, usage and recommendation objectives, account sales, and other targets and takes timely action to drive continuous improvement
Identify new business opportunities and ensure national business implementation that drive BUMO, BRMO and in-office sales
Professional Partnership Building
Build and manage relationships between Colgate and key dental professionals in private practice, government clinics, hospital clinics and defense force clinics
Review coverage of dental professionals and pharmacists, ensuring that all accounts are categorized and prioritized to achieve regular contact consistent with global 10 point professional plan guidelines
Work closely with the Scientific Affairs/Professional Relations team to ensure close alignment and maximize Colgate’s direction in Scientific/Professional Marketing
Develop plans that achieve usage and recommendation objectives and other Professional Marketing KPIs
Ensure all distribution partners are contracted with clear business imperatives, sales goals and account acquisition targets
Develop annual and quarterly brand volume and value sales targets with all dental distribution partners
Conduct business reviews with dental distributor management
Provide ongoing training and competency development of the distributor sales teams
Support to develop periodic sales incentives to distributor sales teams to drive incremental business growth
Organization and People Management
Lead and develop a strong team and maintain a motivating work environment
Monitors team dynamics, ensuring that the team is operating efficiently and effectively
Review coverage and detailing plans, ensuring optimal deployment of resources and quality planning for all detail/sales calls
Give direction to detailing team, ensuring that they are using materials, doing the sampling, and have the tools, skills and product/sales training
Supervise the ongoing expansion of the detailing team, if appropriate, including hiring and on-boarding of new detailers
Ensure that “Lead with the Profession” imperatives are communicated and is a top priority for the professional business team
Conduct regular mentoring and performance management reviews and develop appropriate training programs to improve individual and team competencies and performance outputs
Closely monitor individual performance and mentor to gain best individual performance metrics

External: Dental professionals, distributors
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor Degree required; dental university degree or life science degree preferred
Experience:
Prior work experience in Marketing/Sales or as a dental professional required
Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
Prior experience as a detailer in a dental, pharmaceutical or other related health care industry desirable
Previous experience working with dental or pharmaceutical distributors is a plus
