The Jockey driver is primarily responsible to efficiently operate over the road tractor or yard truck with curtain-side van or box trailer, maintain well organized and clean tractor cab and update required documentation to ensure DOT compliance. Dependability is an essential part of this job as well as the ability to team with co-workers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform job in a safe manner following all Plant and DOT rules/ regulations and training. Perform daily safety inspection and report all unsafe conditions or Near Miss events immediately. Wear all PPE as required. Use hand tools as intended. Follow all DOT over the road regulations and ensure that tractor and yard truck are in good operating order.
Ensure that the van or box trailer is properly and fully loaded, and that paperwork is completed and routed properly. Inspect tractor, yard truck, curtain-side vans and box trailer daily to insure full operational condition. Perform basic mechanical services and fuel tractor as required. Maintain valid required DOT licensing that includes annual physical, random substance screen and motor vehicle records check.
Well lighted throughout work area. Position may be exposed to seasonal temperatures in winter and summer in Plant. Job has a sedentary and ergonomic component. Position is typical of medium industrial environment exposed to dust, grease and other contaminates that require proper management and control through use of approved/ provided PPEWork Schedule: 2-2-3 (12 hours shift) 6AM-6PM
