Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Site Supervisor to provide operating and administrative support to the Joliet and Morris, IL, standalone Air Separation plants which produces oxygen and nitrogen to pipeline customers. This position will have no direct reports and will work in conjunction with the existing Site Supervisor to cover both facilities and will report to the Area Manager in the region.

The position will be responsible for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting the equipment at the facility. The basic function of this role is to provide necessary technical and hands-on support to continuously improve plant operation, maintenance, mechanical equipment integrity, reliability, costs and on- stream factor.
 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Participation in the Basic Safety Process and responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance.

Controlling and monitoring the process to produce oxygen and nitrogen via pipeline to the customer

Working with the customers on technical/supply matters and building the customer relationship.

Providing hands on support or assisting in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting as required.

Investigating equipment failures, determining root causes of failures, and recommending appropriate solutions to reduce the reoccurrence of/or eliminating causes of found failures.

Following Operating procedures and Global Safety Standards

Qualifications/Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED

Two-year Associate Degree in a technical field a plus, but not required.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in industry

Strong understanding of Air Separation facilities or operating and maintenance experience with complex processes is preferred

Strong mechanical aptitude

Self-starter with the ability to plan his/her own activities (including maintenance planning) for safe and reliable operation within budget limitations.

Willing to work alone

Willing to take 24 hour on-call responsibilities for the sites on a rotating basis with the other Site Supervisor

Strong oral and written communications skills

Should reside within 30 minutes of the Morris/Joliet facilities to respond after hours as required

Physical Requirements:

Able to climb ladders and steps and lift up to 50 lbs.

Will be exposed to a high noise environment
