This role is for an individual capable of producing original reporting by harnessing social media intelligence and verification techniques. Working in a fast-paced, video-led, breaking news environment, the successful candidate will cover a range of stories including current events, politics, and international news. **Responsibilities** - Monitor news feeds for emerging stories and discover original content using proprietary tools - Gather and verify user-generated images, videos, and posts from social platforms - Write clean, concise, and accurate copy for publication across News Corporate Australia’s platforms - Contact uploaders and sources involved in stories - Work closely with newsroom clients and content creators to deliver quality reporting - Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and unsociable hours - Pitch and develop unique stories relevant to our audience - Collaborate with colleagues and teams on news stories and projects - Conduct interviews over the phone as needed **Required Experience & Qualifications** - Bachelor’s degree in a related field - Experience in journalism, particularly in online or broadcast settings - Strong communication skills with experience in writing and editing copy for publication - Comprehensive knowledge of social media platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, Telegram, and others - Experience in verification and open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques, with a demonstrated track record in utilizing them effectively in reporting - Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets and content management systems **Preferred Skills & Knowledge** - Fluency in French or proficiency in two languages is strongly preferred - Video editing skills are advantageous, but not required **Benefits** - Full time, Hybrid work arrangement (3 days per week in the Sydney office) Equal Opportunity Employer All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
