Journeyman – Welder (Processing)
Position Description:
The Certified Welder is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks to maintain, repair, and modify equipment and structures within the Processing Mill. The role involves working with a variety of metals, using advanced welding techniques, and adhering to stringent safety and environmental standards.
Responsibilities:
Perform welding repairs on mill equipment, such as conveyors, chutes, crushers, etc. Fabricate parts and components based on blueprints, schematics, and specifications. Conduct high-quality welding using methods such as M.I.G, Gas, Brazing, Arc Air, Flame Cutting, Stick, Wire Feed Welding, Plasma and Plasma Arc. Collaborate with millwrights, electricians, and other trades to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment. Perform inspections to identify wear, cracks, or structural issues. Ensure timely and efficient repairs to minimize downtime. Performing duties in a safe and efficient manner. Follow all site safety protocols, including the use of PPE and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures. Conduct work in compliance with provincial and federal safety regulations. Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety. Other duties as assigned including work in the Underground as required.
Qualifications:
Certified Welder (Red Seal certification preferred or equivalent provincial certification) required CWB W47.1 All Position welding equivalency required Grade 12 or equivalent required Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial welding, preferably in a mining, heavy industry, or processing mill environment preferred Millwright Journeyman’s trade certificate preferred Familiarity with working at heights, in confined spaces, and in harsh environments preferred Dedication to safety measures and best practices required Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail required Ability to work independently and as part of a team required Ability to lift at least fifty (50) pounds required Ability to work a rotational schedule (7/7 rotation working 12-hour shifts) required Effective communication skills required Must supply own tools as required (annual tool allowance available)
