Are you a skilled plumber looking to make a meaningful impact in a healthcare setting? UPMC Montefiore is seeking a full-time Journeyman 1 – Plumber to join our maintenance team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of plumbing systems across the hospital.

The standard shift is 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional off-shift and weekend work required, along with participation in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours issues.

Responsibilities:

Estimate costs of installations and repair work, including requisition of material, as needed. Fit valves, couplings and other plumbing devices by screwing, bolting or soldering and seal connections with joint compounds, gaskets or caulking by using appropriate tools. Inspect systems for pressure loss and leaks. Install, repair and maintain various types of pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and piping systems from blueprints and sketches, including but not limited to chilled water, heating hot water and medical gas. Investigate and perform system outages. Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas. Mark, cut and bend pipe to meet specifications by using hacksaw, pipe cutter or cutting machine. Perform all work following infection control procedures. Prepare pipe for installation such as cutting, threading, removing burrs, grooving and bending. Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
