Job Description The role will be responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, installing, and modifying electrical components and systems for the IG Machine & Fibers Ltd. Ashcroft which is a granules production facility. The primary functions of the Electrician include troubleshooting and timely repairs in support of the daily operation of the plant, taking part in the planned maintenance activities as well as small, new-construction and continuous improvement projects throughout the facility in conjunction with the other skilled tradespeople and maintenance staff. The role must also help ensure the safety of themselves and others by observing all relevant codes and regulations. This position will be reporting to the Electrical Supervisor and must comply with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. This position is part of the IAMAW, Lodge 692 (Union), and as such the successful candidate will be required to join and be subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. LocationIG Machine & Fibers Ltd.3745 Barnes Lake Rd, Ashcroft, BC What’s in it for you? + Competitive salary starting Rate: $45.22 + Competitive health, dental and insurance plans + Competitive matched retirement savings program + The opportunity to join a continuously growing organization with focus on diversity and inclusion + The opportunity to work with an industry leader in manufacturing + The opportunity to have overtime and banked hours + Yearly $200 as safety allowance + In-house training and development opportunities When you join us, you will be: + Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical, distribution and control equipment at the plant + Working with computers, VFDs and PLCs and field instruments + Organizing work area, tools and parts, record keeping of electrical modifications (red-line drawings) + Managing assigned work orders while complying with all safety rules, including LOTO and Life Critical policies + Working in a team setting with other maintenance personnel + Working with minimal supervision in a fast-paced working environment + Ability to work shift work in a 24x7 physically demanding environment + Install, inspect, test, repair or replace industrial electrical distribution and control equipment + Develop and maintain deep understanding of electronic control systems, instrumentation, PLC’s and other related devices in a highly automated facility + Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections and calibrations on systems and equipment as required + Provide electrical support to mechanical maintenance personnel during scheduled and breakdown maintenance activities + Provide thorough and logical troubleshooting of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, including assisting the production department with understanding and troubleshooting their function within the plant process + Read and interpret drawings and schematics, manufacturer recommendations and specifications, and Canadian Electrical Code + Maintain detailed work reporting through electronic work order/work management system + Working within an atmosphere of Continuous Improvement, including a developing 5S program, ensure work areas and tools are maintained in a tidy, organized, and safe manner Our ideal candidate: + Must have the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Ticket + Prior maintenance experience in a plant setting is an asset + Knowledge of Allen Bradley Drives, Relay Logic, PLCs and programming + Proficient in diagnosing and testing motors and motor control circuits + Experience with various instrumentation sensors and transmitters + Must be able to work with computer-based maintenance software + Possess superior analytical and troubleshooting skills + Hold a valid Certificate of Qualification + Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and testing electrical and control systems + Knowledge of relevant electrical safety codes + Must be able to learn computer-based maintenance software + Ability to work with minimal supervision + Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential + Ability to manage time effectively while handling multiple jobs with varying priorities + Must be able to work in a team setting with other tradespeople Benefits of Employment: IKO recognizes that its success is due to the strength of its employees.
