Job Overview Incumbent uses various tools, testing instruments and equipment to install, inspect, repair, maintain, adjust and troubleshoot various pieces of electrical equipment to include the following: common electrical, low voltage, to include 115/120V, 220/230/240V, 208V, 277V, 460/480V, single or three phase, 60Hz; wiring, raceways (conduit), conduit fittings, conduit supports and hangers, electrical boxes and covers, pull boxes, safety disconnects, panelboards and circuit breakers, grounding, electrical devices (switches and receptacles and cover plates), fuses, cable trays, interior and exterior lighting, controls, motors, ballasts, relays, starters, variable frequency drives, capacitors, contractors, transformers, etc. Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment. Works from construction drawings, layouts, or other specifications. Locates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipment. Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. Uses a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. Work of the electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Troubleshoots and evaluates electrical systems. Performs other related duties associated with the installation of Government electronic systems, computer networks, fiber and copper data transmission layer 1 network. Job Requirements Mandatory: Journeyman’s License with proven five (5) years’ experience in electrical installation work. Working knowledge of the NEC and NFPA. Ability to read Installation drawings, bend conduits, troubleshoot, and install and repair AC and DC equipment. Ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of switches, transformers, and transformer hook‑ups. Ability to complete OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry within 120-calendar days of hire. Fall Protection Certificate (Ability to obtain within 120 calendar days of hire). Arc Flash Safety Training (Ability to obtain within 120 calendar days of hire). Low Voltage Training (Ability to obtain within 120 calendar days of hire). Lift Certification (Ability to obtain within 120 calendar days of hire). Must have ability to work on electrical equipment located at various heights Must have and maintain basic hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a background investigation to receive a Top Secret clearance. Current U.S. Passport and will be required to travel overseas Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
