Position Summary

The Journeyman Electrician position is responsible for maintaining all of the resort's electrical infrastructure including but not limited to the following: 25kv and 15kv utility Power Distribution, Stand-by Generators and ATS switches, Ski-Lift Drives and controls, Facilities and Lodges,  Well pumps and controls, Snowmaking and controls.  An Oregon Manufacturing Plant Journeyman or General Journeyman license is required for this position.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Maintains, Repairs and installs resort utility power distribution from the utility service point.

Operates, maintains, and repairs resort standby generator systems.

Troubleshoots and repairs electrical system failures for the entire resort infrastructure.

Install new feeders, branch circuits, and outlet devices as expansion or alterations are needed.

Install, repair, and troubleshoot all Ski-Lift power distribution, VFD Drives, controls, outlet wiring, and devices.

Install, repair,r and troubleshoot all facilities' power distribution, VFD Drives, controls, outlet wiring, and devices.

Secondary Functions/Responsibilities

May need to be on call or available for any after-hour emergencies.

Supervise and train apprentices.

Assist other departments as needed.

Job Scope

As outlined and defined in Primary Functions/Essential Responsibilities & Secondary Functions. In addition, the job scope may change or be altered by the Sr. Electrical Maintenance Manager.

Interpersonal Contacts

Daily communication with other resort staff and maintenance personnel. Coordinates with Midstate Utility Electric during power failures or for line maintenance. In addition, may need to communicate with other vendors, contractors, or personnel.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Number of Employees Supervised: 1

Scheduling & Assigning Work: Determined by Sr. Electrical Manager

Training: Implements training for electrical safety standards in the workplace to meet the current NEC (National Electrical Code), NPA-70E, OSHA, ANSI-B77, Oregon BCD (Building Codes Division), and Oregon OAR (Oregon administrative rules).

Performance Review: As required by the apprentice program.

Specific Job Skills

Licenses/Certifications: Oregon Driver’s License & Oregon manufacturing plant Journeyman or General Journeyman License.

Technical: 3-phase Utility Voltage Power distribution up to 25kv, 3-phase power distribution of 600 volts and less, VFDs, plc controls, and interface equipment.  Data and low voltage IT equipment.

Physical Capabilities: Ability to work outside in winter environment, work at heights, work with hand tools and power tools; perform necessary work functions while wearing a full body harness or other personal protective equipment; and walk on uneven or irregular surfaces.

Additional: To have the following abilities: Drive vehicles in winter conditions; operate and drive snowmobiles, have good written and oral communication skills with others; be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, email, and basic computer skills.

Education/Related Experience

Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or (equivalent), completion of a 4-year electrical apprenticeship.

Minimum Time in Related Position: Minimum 2 years as an Oregon licensed Journeyman Electrician or equivalent experience.
