Journeyman Maintenance Welder

We are currently looking for a Journeyman Maintenance Welder at our manufacturing facility in Albany Oregon. This a 4x10 hour day shift where you may be required to work overtime or may be scheduled for special project work as well. The Journeyman Maintenance Welder main responsibility is to make necessary repairs to manufacturing equipment. You will service various industrial machinery and equipment, and plant facilities. This specialized position adds the element of welding both ferrous, non-ferrous, and reactive alloys. There are multiple work areas with many different pieces of equipment/machines/areas of the facility so physical activity would depend on what machine/equipment/area of the facility an employee is working on any given day. The Journeyman Maintenance Welder will perform planned corrective maintenance welding, repair and fabrications to support maintenance and production operations. Weld shop, brackets or supports related to machinery, vessel or vacuum system repairs, emergency repairs, and redline drawings are all part of the responsibilities of a Journeyman Maintenance Welder. To be successful in this position you will be detail oriented, with the ability to follow both written and verbal Instructions, understand Engineering Drawings and/or Shop Sketches and their related tolerances, organized to ensure accuracy, and have mechanical, troubleshooting, intermediate math, and computer skills. Safety is the companys top priority, and you will be expected to adhere to a strict zero injury safety culture. The Journeyman Maintenance Welder will have the essential knowledge of basic metal fabrication, flat pattern development, layouts and stretch-outs to perform the following: + Welding, brazing, and cutting operations on various types of ferrous, non-ferrous, and reactive alloys. + Highly skilled use of the SMAW, TIG, GMAW, and CAC-A processes in all positions (vertical, flat, overhead), with the ability to perform OFW. + Appropriately leverage plasma, oxy/acetylene, oxy/natural gas, and carbon arc cutting equipment each task. + Operate standard metal working tools such as, press brakes, metal shears, punch presses, forming rolls, overhead cranes, and below the hook lifting devices, as well as hand tools and grinders. + Evaluate weld cracks and best approaches/practices to apply effective repairs in the field. + Operate IME such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and snorkel lifts. + Work at elevated heights and in confined tight spaces for several minutes at a time, sometimes using respiratory protection from hazardous gases. + Accurately read, and properly layout work and identified materials based on engineered construction prints, shop drawings, and handmade sketches for application in the shop or out in the field.
