A week in the life of a Journeyman Marine Engineer​: + Assist in design, development, and evaluation of the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as propulsion systems & power generation systems. + Support the US Coast Guard reviewing third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components. + Perform design reviews, evaluating constructability, helping resolve technical issues, and managing + information generated through the design and construction phases. + Conduct analyses of propulsion systems and types, lead development of technical data packages and reviews. + Conduct trade studies regarding ship configuration. + Conduct marine engineering analysis. + Create graphical representations of structures and systems. + Inspect equipment or systems. + Assist in research of advanced engineering designs or applications. + Prepare technical reports for internal use.
