Journeyman Millwright

 

Position Description:

Accountable for performing high quality maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner to deliver reliable performance on all fixed mining, plant and hoisting equipment. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

Carry out maintenance and lubrication activities assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with safe work procedures and workshop standards.  Identify and resolve issues associated with breakdown/corrective maintenance in a timely manner. Apply basic root cause analysis (5 whys) where appropriate. Provide feedback to the Supervisor if necessary.  Complete all service sheets and other job-related paperwork to high standard – focusing on accuracy of information returned to the Supervisor and or Planner (hours, parts, tasks completed, any other defects identified)   Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area both during and after completing a task. This includes cleaning, tagging and returning used parts,   Train Apprentices and or Subordinates when required to do so.  Other duties as assigned by supervisor: guard for blast, fire watch… other emergency duties that are trained or qualified to perform  Demonstrate commitment to safety, environmental & health Zero reportable  Work to schedule   Positive interaction with all workshop personal – displaying genuine concern for their safety and well being  Ensure allocated jobs are always completed safely and to a high quality. All tasks followed through to completion unless otherwise discussed with the maintenance supervisor  Effective trouble shooting (root cause analysis).  Provide quality feedback (both written and verbal) to the Maintenance Supervisor relating to all work undertaken.  Make use of computer-based maintenance systems (Oracle) if required as part of the role  Demonstrate pride in workplace through maintaining a high standard of housekeeping at all times

 

 

Qualifications:

Millwright Journeyman’s trade certificate Grade 12 or equivalent Minimum 2 years mechanical experience in the maintenance industry Shaft and hoist experience considered an asset  Valid Class G and DZ Drivers License  OEM qualification training (Metso, Wabi, etc.) Knowledge of sourcing parts and equipment online
