**Job Title: Journeyman Shipfitter (SCA)**
**Job Description**
As a Journeyman Shipfitter, you will be responsible for assembling, cutting, and grinding metal structural parts including plates, bulkheads, strong backs, turnbuckles, and come-alongs. You will align parts in relation to each other, tack and weld foundations and structural members, and perform layout work according to blueprints or reference lines. Additionally, you will mark the location of holes to be drilled, drive wedges, and install temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding.
**Responsibilities**
+ Work with presses, floor shaping, forming plates, and shaping from templates.
+ Mark and install symbols, doors, hatches, and scuttles.
+ Lay out blueprints and outfit items.
+ Check and fit materials and tack weld various sub-assemblies.
+ Work on shipways with the erection of units and installation of structural items.
+ Install structural outfit items, doors, ladders, and foundations.
+ Sequence assembly and fitting effectively.
+ Use heating torches correctly for plate heat straightening and shrinkage.
+ Use hand and power tools proficiently.
+ Perform shop and field fabrication.
+ Adhere to industry codes, regulations, and specifications.
+ Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.
+ Perform tack welding.
+ Install simple systems without templates and carry out riveted and deck inserting.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, California.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $33.32 - $33.32/hr.
