Job Description

Job DescriptionThe primary function of this role is to interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine the appropriate welding process and structural soundness. Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. This position will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and must comply with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment.

Plant DescriptionIG Machine & Fibers Ltd. at the Ashcroft is a production facility that processes, color, and ship granules used for the roofing shingle. We are seeking a Journeyman Welder to join our team of skilled professionals. When you join us, you will be:Using welding and cutting equipmentPerforming routine inspections on equipmentMaintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, roles and regulationsPerforming maintenance welding repairs on equipmentPerforming welding repairs and welding inspections on all company equipmentCompleting work ordersReporting all incidents, damage and near misses immediatelyAssisting with other maintenance activities as required

Our ideal candidate:Must have Journeyman Welder Interprovincial Red Seal CertificationMinimum of 1-3 years’ work-related experienceKnowledge and experience using all common welding processes with all metals in all positions.Strong oral and written communication skillsAbility to manage time effectively while handling multiple jobs with varying priorities.Must be able to work in a team setting with other tradespeople.

Hours/ Days / Schedule:The hours of work will be primarily Wednesday through Saturday {40 hours, day shift}.
