SUMMARY

The Journeyman – Plumber - Roving has experience and holds a valid Certificate of Qualification issued by the province in which the work is performed. The incumbent is responsible for operating facility systems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the assigned facility within the limits of company policy and trade certification. The Journeyman – Plumber - Roving is also responsible for performing work in accordance with established processes and practices and for complying with internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, security and fire protection.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation & Troubleshooting

Determines piping system requirements and pipe sizing.Measures, cuts, threads and bends pipes to required shape and size.Interprets blueprints, drawings and specifications to map layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems in residential and commercial buildings.Cuts opening in walls or floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.Installs, replaces and repairs valves, pump and all others of piping system, fixtures and equipment.Tests pipes for leaking and other problems.

Maintenance

Performs work in accordance to established processes and practices.Complies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protection.Responds to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance activities at assigned facility.Performs regular facility, facility plumbing systems monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure facility uptime and safety objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation and asset integrity of assigned facility is maintainedFollows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and that related documentations are maintained.Maintains accurate inventory of all assigned tools/equipment and arranges for repair and replacement where required.

Client Relations

Provides observations about facility, facility plumbing conditions and deficiencies and provides recommendations for enhancement and repair.Participates in and assists with facility-related projects.

Administration

Participates in and assists with facility-related projects.Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection and any other applicable requirements.Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where requiredSubmits all expenditures on a timely basis.Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

College Diploma/Certification requiredExperience required as a licensed PlumberStrong ability to adhere and to properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenanceTroubleshooting and resolution skillsCurrent knowledge of fire, life, safety and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standardsPossesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe mannerStrong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgencyEffective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarificationMentoring skills required to support lower level technicians developmentMust be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they ariseMust be willing to wear Personal Protective EquipmentMust meet enhanced security clearance requirementsValid drivers’ license

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation - Required

Must hold a valid Journeyman / journeyperson Plumbing license for Manitoba

Working towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1Facilities Technician Certification through an accredited institutionSystems Maintenance Technician (SMT)
