Purpose

The Heavy-Duty Mechanic will perform maintenance repair duties within the Mobile Maintenance department team. They will safely perform scheduled and unscheduled tasks to optimize equipment availability and contribute to the performance of the Maintenance Team.

The Red Chris Mobile Maintenance team is recruiting for the position of Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic with a competitive hourly rate of $55.14 and additional benefits. We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

Essential Duties

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strong commitment and adherence to all Safety Policies and ProceduresMaintenance and preventative maintenance of production, service and support equipmentDiagnose and complete repairs on all company mobile equipmentDemonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease repair times and streamline work processesUse of computer to input work orders, parts, lists, pick tickets, equipment information, troubleshooting feedback and shift turnover notesThe mentorship and training of apprentices and PM ServicemenAssist with other maintenance activities as requiredDemonstrate continuous improvement to enhance operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.The mentorship and training of apprentices.Input timesheets, material information, equipment information and work orders electronically via SAP.Practice workplace safety.Other duties as required.Training & Experience

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:   

Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Interprovincial Red Seal CertificationValid Class 5 driver’s license required, Class 3 with air brakes endorsement preferredMinimum of 2-5 years’ related experience requiredMaintenance repair experience with various generators, pump systems and light plants preferredTrades related experience and knowledge of Caterpillar, haul trucks, dozers, graders, Hitachi and Komatsu hydraulic excavators and shovels, P&H 2800XPB shovel and Sandvik drillsTeam leader, lead hand and/or supervisory experience will increase candidate rankingGrade 12 diploma or equivalent preferredCandidates to provide information re: Safety Program related training & experience, Equipment specific training and skills plus other trades related tickets and certificatesAbility to perform tasks that require strength and stamina in extreme weather conditionsMust be able to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirementsA team player that works well with othersStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to use Microsoft Office and MS Outlook preferred, SAP experience a distinct assetAbility to mentor and train apprenticesWorking Conditions

 The expected salary range for this role is CA$55.14/hour . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.  The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
