Aviva Canada Inc. has an excellent opportunity in Aviva Business. Ontario National Commercial Insurance Branch has an opportunity for a Junior Underwriter (Property and Casualty).
Overall the accountability in this role is to drive profitable growth through quality underwriting with Medium Enterprise commercial Business with a focus on Renewals, Endorsements and New Business. These are medium-sized accounts in in varying segments, which typically have an annual premium under $25,000 and revenues under $200M from a customer profile perspective.
As a Junior Underwriter, you are accountable to collaborate with internal partners and brokers to identify new business opportunities, service our existing book and to provide superior technical expertise to brokers and customers to provide the right solution. We are interested in speaking with insightful business minded underwriters who are passionate about service and driving profitable growth.
What You'll Do:
Are you passionate about the successful evaluation, selection, and negotiation of business?
You will work with brokers to negotiate terms and pricing for new business opportunities and renewal policies in order to insure a profitable book of business within an established underwriting authorityDo you love to build and maintain awareness?
You will seek to learn and educate on market trends, pricing levels, and policy offerings in the region you service.How do you respond to inquiries?
You communicate diligently and professionally with our broker partners to drive the end customer experience and create a meaningful partnership within the portfolioDo you take calculated risks?
You are highly skilled in critical thinking and exposure analysis, and use loss control and risk management resources and methodologies as part of your standard process.What You'll Bring:
2+ years’ experience in commercial insurance underwriting, in Property and Casualty line,Proven ability to work reciprocally and collaboratively with Auto line and other underwritersValidated sales acumen, marketing, communication, and negotiation skillsHighly motivated and enthusiasticAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamProficient multi-tasker, with demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work while meeting service expectations and other deadlinesPost-secondary education (Business or related Discipline) and willing to work towards CIP designation Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, RTM, Commercial systems and other related systems.What you’ll get:
