JR Environmental Scientist/Geologist

Overview:

FPM Remediations, Inc. is currently seeking to fill a full time Junior Environmental Scientist/Geologist position at its Oneida, NY office. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join a team of dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced environmental professionals. This position will provide an opportunity to learn and apply the latest technologies to conduct field investigations and remediate contaminated sites across the country for our clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

 The position will support fieldwork at locations around the United States. 

Work will include collecting soil, surface water, groundwater, sediment, and air samples completing daily field reports packaging and shipping samples to laboratories for analysis maintenance, calibration, and operation of field instruments overseeing and monitoring the work of subcontractors including drill rig crews, surveyors, construction crews, and remediation work health and safety air monitoring Observe, evaluate, and document site field conditions and communicate changes in field conditions to senior staff. support preparation of technical reports, which may include importing electronic laboratory data reports into FPM’s and clients’ data management systems evaluating data quality and usability preparing written reports of field activities, observations, and findings and preparing graphics and figures of results  Supervisory Responsibilities:

There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in an environmental science and/or environmental engineering, with a preferred focus on geology, and coursework in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to travel  Ability to participate in safety training and follow company safety standards  Strong technical writing skills  Desire to work as part of a team  Attention to detail  Ability to analyze chemistry and environmental data  Effective communication and problem solving skills  Ability to adapt to changing situations  GIS experience is a plus  Experience with Microsoft Office applications with extensive experience in Excel are preferred  Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Field work is performed in on various outdoor terrain and regularly requires the ability to navigate uneven ground or other obstacles found in natural surroundings.

Travel:

Extensive travel to field sites required > 80% travel initially. Upwards of 40-60% travel after gaining appropriate level of field experience. Fieldwork involves performing physically demanding tasks and working 10-hour days (typically five (5) 10-hour days per week), potentially in adverse field conditions (cold, hot, high wind, dusty environment, rough terrain) in remote locations.
