Position Summary
This position is for applicants under 18 that have graduated from the PSIA-AASI JR Instructor Program with Mt Bachelor within the last 2 years. Applicants 18 and over who are interested in instructing should apply to Ski and Ride School Instructor.
Fun, energetic and highly motivated 15 to 17-year-olds will be trained to assist with and teach children and adult lessons. You are expected to have a high level of patience and ability to work with children and adults in developing their skiing and riding skills. You will be expected to attend training specific to your job duties as an instructor.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Assist the Lesson Programs at Mt. Bachelor - This includes the Mountain Rippers Center (MRC); Multi-Week Programs, Sunrise and West Village Group Lessons. Main tasks will include assisting instructors with classes, meeting and greeting guests, entertaining children, teaching classes and potentially moving guests between instructors.
Assist our Multi week program- direct parents where to go, move children between lessons and instructors, set up lunch areas, ski/ride to assist lessons on the chairlift or surface lift, help with lessons and teach your own group.

Instructors are expected to interact with guests kindly and positively. At times the position has moderate stress where you will need to maintain composure and an energetic personality. There will also be moments of downtime, and we expect individuals to have the initiative to find a task. You will be working closely with children (ages 3 to 12) and we expect a professional behavior, while also being kind and nurturing when the need is there.
Secondary Function
Be prepared to shovel snow, set-up and tear-down lesson area, communicate with and give feedback to parents.
Job Scope
To instruct guests in accordance with Mt. Bachelor’s, PSIA and AASI guiding principles and training. To maintain a safe and fun learning environment for guests of all ages.

Specific Job Skills/Experience
License/Certifications- Graduate of the PSIA-AASI Junior Instructor Program
Technical- Ability to Ski or Snowboard at a strong intermediate to advanced level.
Physical Capabilities- Able to remain standing for extended periods of time in all weather conditions, able to assist in lifting children that fall, able to walk on uneven surfaces, able to shovel snow.
Additional- Applicant must own their own equipment.
Education/Related Experience: JR Instructor Graduate Certificate
Minimum time in related position: Experience and willingness working with children is preferred.
Current Hiring Rate: $16/Hour
Age Requirements: 15 to 17 years old
