Jr. Industrial Engineer

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Jr. Industrial Engineer within our Northfield Metal Products team to help support our Work Furniture business.  In our Furniture Components business, we design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry.  From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

 

As a Jr. Industrial Engineer you will be supporting the operations of the business by being involved in product costing, time study and equipment layout. The team you will be working with has a long tenure and values collaboration!

 

So, what will you be doing as a Jr. Industrial Engineer?  

 

Conduct time studies for current processes and new processes to set standard rates of production Analyze costs of production for current products and new products in development Responsible for the maintenance, planning and design of the plant layout using AutoCAD and/or DraftSight Develop production and cell design standards Engage in the development of performance standards, evaluation systems and incentive programs Find ways to eliminate wastefulness and cost savings in the production processes and improve efficiencies with a continuous improvement mindset Work with external agencies to conduct studies to enhance industrial environmental, health and safety initiatives

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

 

Possess good communication skills Ability to work individually but be a team player Strong attendance record Above average computer skills in Excel, Word, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and DraftSight Ability to follow priorities, achieve goals and coordinate activities in a timely and cost-effective manner

The work hours are Monday to Thursday from 7:00am - 4:30pm and Friday 7:00am to 11:00am. Our benefits may vary slightly from one location to the next, but what you will find, is that we offer: medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as an RRSP program.
