Jr. Level Environmental Scientist

Job Description:

We are currently seeking several junior-level environmental Scientists to join our team in Broward. This position supports a variety of Emergency Response, Remediation, and environmental due diligence projects, with 75% field work and 25% office work. The role primarily focuses on Emergency Response, involving significant project support.

Responsibilities:

Use hand augers and other tools/instruments to obtain soil, sediment, water, waste, and wastewater samples.Perform tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions and work around hazardous materials.Conduct environmental site investigation and remediation work, including soil and groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion investigation, remedial investigation, design, implementation, and monitoring.Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical remediation systems and monitoring systems.Document field activities in field notebooks and field graphics, including groundwater sampling logs, well completion logs, and soils logs.Oversee work of subcontractors including construction and water well contractors, laboratories, and others.Prepare reports based on field notes, laboratory reports, and other data, including source removal and site assessment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a physical science.At least one year of experience in environmental remediation, site assessment, or emergency response.Willingness to perform labor-intensive responsibilities on emergency response projects.Valid Florida Driver’s License.OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training with updates preferred.Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Strong technical education, professional demeanor, and a desire to learn.Understanding of environmental regulations related to contaminated sites and drinking water.Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.Proficient in computer usage for accessing, inputting, and reviewing test data.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Comfortable and physically able to perform field duties in an outdoor Florida environment and around hazardous materials.

Work Environment:

The role involves starting each day at the office before heading out to the field, participating in pre-con meetings, and then moving to the project site. Once trained, there is flexibility to drive directly to project sites. The position involves daily travel with occasional overnight stays for projects throughout Florida. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.04 - $28.85
