Jr. Mechanical Technician

The Analytical Solutions Division (ASD) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc., is seeking Junior Mechanical Technician who has an aptitude toward mechanical systems within a R&D manufacturing setting, to join the team located in Huntsville, AL. This position will receive the required on-the-job training (OJT) to safely utilize tools and hardware using standard fabrication shop practices. Must be physically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) to include, but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection and hand protection as required.

Junior Mechanical Technician will (may not be all inclusive):

Receive OJT to Fabricate/assemble hardware and mechanical components Conduct regular maintenance and cleaning  Read technical manuals - including blueprints and schematics Utilize various machinery, hand tools, power tools and measurement tools Continuously upgrade skills and knowledge Be a part of team

Junior Mechanical Technician Requirements:

Strong working knowledge utilizing hand tools, power tools and measurement tools Minimum of 2+ years of related experience in either fabrication, manufacturing and/or mechanical systems High school diploma or equivalent required Under direct supervision, capable of fabrication of complex prototype systems Must have familiarity with either manufacturing or mechanical systems and safe work practices Work requires sitting, pushing, pulling, standing, standing for long periods of time, reaching, grasping, bending, climbing, stooping and must be able to lift up to 50lbs individually, 50lbs or more with assistance Be physically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection and hand protection as required Obtain and maintain SECRET Clearance from the U.S. Department of Defense and be U.S. Citizen

Preferred:

Active / Current SECRET Clearance from the US Department of Defense
