This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). MNIT MnDOT supports an agency with technology integrated into all areas of business. From business intelligence and solutions for critical transportation infrastructure to planning and operating a safe, efficient, and reliable multimodal transportation system, the team connects people and markets across Minnesota.
As the Junior Application Developer, you will support MNIT partnering with MnDOT by assisting with python development and programming tasks in support of business applications. This position will primarily provide development services using python to create front end forms to the AASHTOWare Project application. While learning and assisting with work efforts, the incumbent will be encouraged to leverage classroom work and outside experience.
**This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:**
+ Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
+ Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

**Education**
Student Worker Eligibility - To be eligible for an appointment as a Student Worker Paraprofessional, you must be enrolled in a post-secondary or graduate educational program or plan to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as a student worker, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. If you are enrolled at a credit-granting institution, you must carry at least six semester/nine quarter credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, you must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load will be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
**Experience**
+ Academic programs can include Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related program.
+ Experience or class work with Python and/or coding and scripting languages.
+ Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues.
+ Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
+ Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Ability to translate technical information for non-technical staff.
+ Strong attention to detail.
+ Effective organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
+ Effective communication skills.
