Junior Autodesk Civil Designer
**This Opportunity** WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Junior Autodesk Civil Designer** for our **US Mine Waste Civil Design and Drafting Team** based in our Lakewood, CO office. The following locations will also be considered: Tucson, AZ; Reno, NV; and Tampa, FL. Under general to minimal supervision, provides technical design and CADD support on projects to produce designs and specifications to be used for planning, transportation, infrastructure, and technical services business lines. Tasks may include developing skills and generating CADD designs on various assigned projects of basic complexity. Generates accurate and concise design phase deliverables including reports, technical memoranda, design manuals, plans and profiles, models, sections, details, specifications, and material lists. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, accuracy, and functionality. **Your Impact** + Modify and develop drawing packages (plans, profiles, sections, and details, etc.) primarily in civil design; including complex earthworks, mining (tailings, heap leach pad, waste rock stockpile design, reclamation), stormwater and surface-water controls, groundwater science, landfill design and remediation, and civil infrastructure in the power sector and water treatment facilities, as directed by the Team Leader, team members, and/or project engineer. + Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and be committed to team approach and outcomes. Engage with key project stakeholders to understand constraints and identify opportunities for innovative design, ensuring your work aligns with project objectives. + Spearhead the delivery of innovative design solutions by leveraging your expertise in three-dimensional modeling across a wide range of civil and geotechnical engineering projects. + Manage production of multiple drawings and multiple projects at the same time; using good judgment to identify alternatives to assist in the resolution of design problems; taking limited information from the engineers and creating high level design packages; and manage time efficiently which includes planning, organizing, prioritizing, and following through on a variety of tasks to meet deadlines. + Resourcing other CADD team members to assist in completing project deliverables. + Support the business on project activities ranging from feasibility to detailed design. + Provide quality control of drafting and design plans related to company CADD standards, filing and workflows throughout the scope of the project. + Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, concepts, blueprints, schematics, data, verbal or written specifications, technical drawings, rough sketches, diagrams, and other matrices to support drafting and design activities for single, multi-phase, or multi-site project work. + Under general supervision, use 3D computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software to assist with basic design details and prepare drawings which require a high degree of precision. + Provide basic technical design assistance that accounts for the proper illustration, fit form, and function using geometric dimensioning, tolerance and quantity calculations, while ensuring the construction and maintainability of designs according to design standard specifications. + Assist with verifying calculations, design, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, and escalating any issues or technical problems for appropriate resolution. + Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. + Assure plans adhere to city code, state and federal regulations. + Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineer. + Ensure the specification of dimensions, materials, and procedures for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements. + Work collaboratively with the engineer-in-charge and other technical professionals on assigned project phases, segments, checks, and tasks. + Complete training on assigned tasks. + Exhibit basic knowledge of current drafting and design support practices. + Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. + Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. **Who You Are** Required Qualifications + High School Diploma. + 1-4 years of relevant post education experience in Civil Design and Geotechnical engineering projects. + Proficiency in three-dimensional modeling, particularly utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D 2023 or newer. + With an emphasis on using modern and efficient tools and workflows within AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a priority (e.g., external references, annotative object, sheet sets, surfaces, alignments, profiles, cogo points, data shortcuts, etc.) + Familiar with drafting and design support principles, practices, process, methods and techniques. + Familiar with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. + Excellent research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset. + Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience. + Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies. + Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives. + Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools. + Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. + Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek. + Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Associate’s Degree in closely related discipline is preferred. + Essential professional licensure/certification. Compensation: Expected Salary (Colorado only): $52,700 - $72,490 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
