Junior Automation Engineer
Position Summary:
As an Jr. Automation Engineer at Skyjack, you will be responsible for supporting design, programming, and maintaining automation systems that enhance our manufacturing operations. You will work with state-of-the-art technologies, including PLCs, HMIs, robots, and industrial network protocols. Your expertise in mechanical and electrical design, combined with your programming skills, will play a critical role in optimizing our production processes and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Performance Expectations:
Extraction of machine signals / data from a wide variety of vastly different industrial control systems Work systematically and consistently to provided or co-developed programming guides and standards Apply your production-based experience in the support and development of shop-floor data extraction, analysis and KPI reports support the development and integration of standards industrial control systems Clearly document within a provided template structure, all development and debug code. Create detailed work instructions and documentation for automated systems, devices and processes. Source and evaluate new hardware and software products to support the development of networking and controls guides and standards within Linamar. Work to continuously improve the system to meet the needs of Skyjack and conduct various R&D trials to prove out code and calculation enhancements. Maintain a stringent commitment to detail and accuracy of data/information. Support deployment, installation and troubleshooting of data collection systems globally. Provide support and training to Skyjack facilities as required. Identify and promote the “best in class” automated processes and culture. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines. Must be able and willing to travel and work internationallyCredentials:
University/College education in engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 1-2 years of shop-floor automation build or support experienceQualifications:
Proficiency in programming PLCs and HMIs specifically to Allen Bradley, Omron and Siemens. Experience with robot programming and integration. Good knowledge of industrial network protocols and architecture. Knowledge of data collection software (e.g., Ignition, FactoryTalk, Wonderware). Proficient in mechanical design using SolidWorks. Skilled in electrical design using AutoCAD Electrical. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with specified robotic systems (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, KUKA). Experience with robotic welding processes and systems. (e.g., Robotic Mig welding) Experience with robot simulation software (e.g., Robotstudio, Roboguide) Knowledge of safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 13849, CSA-Z434).What Linamar/Skyjack Has to Offer
