JOB SUMMARY:
The Junior Counselor position is a mentorship program and will help support aspects of the camp program by working alongside our camp staff. Junior Counselors will assist with the general operations of Woodward camp including the execution of daily programming instruction and recreation events. Duties will include but are not limited to mentoring and guiding younger campers, assisting with program events and instruction sessions, assisting in the creation of a positive cabin experience, assisting with cabin cleanliness, assisting with general camp cleanliness, and other duties as needed. The junior counselor is a part-time seasonal position open to summer campers ages 15 to 17. Campers who are hired into junior counselor position will stay for up to two camp sessions after their purchased session. Junior Counselors will work a maximum of 25 hours throughout the week.

16.50 an hour -
Camp Counselor Exemption - 85% Per California exemption wage order 5.
All other applicable deductions will be applied.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Passionate People
Attend mentoring/training sessions as assigned by manager
Mentor/Guide younger campers to enhance their experience
Dynamic Programming
Junior counselors are required to attend all morning mandatory sessions for chosen sport.
Assist with younger camper afternoon instruction
Assist with program events, clinics, etc.
Assist with recreation activities as assigned
Facilities and Equipment
Assist in the maintaining of skatepark cleanliness by sweeping/mopping and picking-up trash.
Assist counselors with cabin duties
Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:
Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Previous experience working with kids preferred.
Previous guest service experience preferred.
Previous cleaning experience preferred.
Previous camp experience preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills required.
Must provide a letter of recommendation from professional, non-relative individual.
