Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Junior Utility Designer to join our growing Utilities team in West Toronto. This is a fantastic opportunity to kickstart your career in utility design and coordination while contributing to large-scale transportation infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will assist in preparing design drawings for wet utilities (storm, sanitary, and watermain) using CAD tools. You’ll support multi-disciplinary projects, including civil, highways, and transit/rail infrastructure within the GTA. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, eager to learn, and ready to work on impactful projects while gaining mentorship from senior team members.

Role Accountabilities:
You will work on utility designs for MTO/Metrolinx and municipal projects, including:

Assisting in the preparation of preliminary and detailed utility design drawings, reports, and memos. Supporting the design of temporary and permanent utility relocations, including watermain, sanitary/storm sewers, gas, electricity, and telecommunications. Ensuring compliance with standards, guidelines, and regulations under the supervision of senior team members. Coordinating with project teams, clients, contractors, and third-party utility stakeholders. Developing preliminary designs using CAD software (e.g., Bentley, Autodesk) for wet and dry utilities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering  3+ years of experience in engineering design (transportation or utilities is an asset). Proficiency with CAD tools (MicroStation, Inroads/Open Roads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred). Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to collaborate and learn. Familiarity with municipal and road authority standards is an asset. Desire to grow professionally and contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects.

  The salary range for this position is $66,000 - $99,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
