Required Skills / Abilities: 

Understanding of environmental engineer work in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulationsSpecialization in one of more disciplines: air, water, wastewater, storm water, groundwater, waste/hazardous materialsAbility to perform engineering, regulatory analysis and field compliance oversight of the facility based on proposed or current compliance requirementsAbility to work closely with cross-functional groups, including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Project Team, and the Business Area to drive safety, productivity, efficiency, and reliability performance of the siteEnjoy a mixture of field and office workStrong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversityStrong communication and organizational skillsBe flexible with work hours during plant upsets and turnaroundsMust be a self-starter with proven leadership abilities

Key Job Responsibilities:

The Jr. Environmental Engineer will initially work at the direction of senior members of the team as needed to develop autonomy to cover several compliance obligations including, but not limited to:Coordinating and gathering details necessary for completing environmental permit applicationsEvaluating how changes in plant equipment or operations may affect complianceInterpreting State and Federal regulations or permit conditionsDeveloping guidance and procedures for operations, maintenance and environmental staff based on permit conditionsDirecting and reviewing the work of third-party compliance consultantsRequesting routine maintenance work orders required for compliance with regulations and/or permit conditionsPreparing and submitting required Federal, State and Local reports as assignedPerforming compliance inspections and audits

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

B.S. degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or other closely related engineering/technical disciplineInterest in renewable and sustainable fuel production and desire to learn technical refining processesExcellent verbal and written communication skillProficiency with Microsoft OfficeThis is a safety sensitive position.  Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery and be able to physically perform all tasks in the field

In California, the expected pay range is $76,675- $111,385, plus Company bonus. This is the pay range that we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
